What can I expect from the first session?
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, discuss what brings you to therapy, and begin exploring what support may be most helpful. We will talk about your experiences, your needs, and what you hope to gain from therapy.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it is normal to feel unsure at first. Therapy can be helpful if you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or wanting to better understand yourself and your experiences. You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out.
How often will we meet?
The frequency of sessions depends on your individual needs, concerns, and what feels most supportive. Many clients begin with weekly sessions, and we can adjust over time as needed.
How long are the sessions?
Individual therapy sessions are typically 50 – 55 minutes long.
Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?
I offer both telehealth and in person sessions for clients located in Ohio. I am based in Sylvania, Ohio.
What concerns do you help with?
I work with teenagers and adults experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem challenges, and life transitions. You can learn more on my Services page.
What approaches do you use?
I use a personalized approach based on each client’s needs. I draw from approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), attachment-based therapy, and EMDR when appropriate.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. Karuna House is in network and accepts Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, FrontPath, Medical Mutual, Paramount, United Healthcare, and Mclaren. I also accept private pay at a rate of $150 for the initial session and $125 for following sessions.
What if we aren’t the right fit?
Finding the right therapist is an important part of the process. I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation so we can discuss what brings you to therapy, answer your questions, and explore whether my approach feels like the right fit for your needs. If we determine that my approach may not be the best fit, I will support you in exploring other options.
Are you supervised as an associate therapist?
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor practicing under the supervision of Aisha Snyder. Supervision is an important part of my professional development and ensures I continue providing ethical and effective care.
